BLS Tips
The documentation provided by the GP School (also included in our VTS Handbook) is very clear that the course must include:
Adult
Child
AED training
Face-to-face practical training
Please ensure this information is clearly stated on the certificate or confirmation in writing so the panel can clearly see it.
If you are in a hospital placement, this should be provided by Hillingdon Hospital.
If you are in a GP placement, you will need to be more organised, as this can be difficult to arrange. Ask the Practice Manager if there is a BLS course coming up at the practice, or whether they can check within the PCN to see if other practices have upcoming BLS training that you could join.
You can search online for suitable provider.
In particular, search for:
RCGP
Hillingdon Confederarion (at the Pembroke Centre)
Remember, you can use your study budget for this, as it is included on the mandatory course list.
ILS is only acceptable in the year it was completed, as RCGP requires annual updates. This content must be clear for the panel to see on the certificate or other written record. For example, if it does not say "child", it will not be accepted.
